Good news!! I was able to talk to my advisor about my interests in teaching near campus, and she was able to connect me to a non-profit organisation Hope 7. I am hoping to be able to start teaching my lessons from this week on.

Some lesson plans I have in thought are:

-start by learning the basic music notes on sheet music

(cons - it might be a little challenging and I don't exactly know the age group of the children I might be teaching

           - even though they have shown interest in music lessons, it might not be the technical elements of music)

(pros - it is the perfect way to start off a music lesson for children as it sets the stage up for future knowledge

           - this was one of the first things I learned in a master class with my former teacher and I would like to pass it on to the children

           - there are fun ways to memorize the notes like "Every Good Boy Does Fine" and "FACE")

After I made this little pros and cons list out of one of the activities I would like to try, I've come to realize that I really won't know what's best until I go and teach one class. So, I am going with my gut and am hoping to try this for my first class.

Unfortunately, there were complications with my transportation to Hope 7 and back this week. My advisor and I weren't informed that students aren't allowed to walk off campus alone, even as a senior, and because my advisor wasn't on campus this week, we weren't able to find a solution. We communicated afterwards and starting in December, one of the teachers will be walking with me and back from Hope 7. I am so thankful that so many people are putting so much effort into getting me to the organisation and hope that my lessons for the children there are helping them in a similar way.
